Scott S. Richardson was born and raised in southern Alberta, moving to Edmonton for law school at the University of Alberta and then articling with Hladun & Company.

Prior to that, Scott graduated with an Honours Degree from the University of Victoria. During his legal studies, Scott was heavily involved in many different student organizations, including the Indigenous Law Students’ Association; the Environmental Law Students’ Association; Law Show; and the LGBTQ student group, OUTLaw. As a result of his engagement, Scott was awarded the David R. Percy, Q.C. Excellence in Student Leadership Award.

Since being called to the Alberta Bar in 2020, Scott has gained experience in the following areas:

• criminal defence;
• immigration and refugee matters;
• traffic and provincial offences;
• civil litigation; and
• impaired driving offences (including the SafeRoads Alberta administrative scheme).

In the course of his practice, Scott has been before the Provincial Court, the Court of King’s Bench, and several administrative bodies, and has brought applications before the Federal Court.

In his spare time, Scott enjoys skiing, reading philosophy, and growing out his hair.
