Michael J. Marchen has represented clients on a wide variety of private and public matters before every level of Court in Alberta, the superior and appellate courts of B.C. and Saskatchewan, and the Federal Courts. He has leveraged his experience as an engineer and project manager to effectively conduct complex criminal and civil litigation. His practice has evolved to focus on Constitutional and appellate law.
Mr. Marchen’s professional and academic interests include Constitutional history, legitimacy, and plurijudicialism; Treaties between the Crown and Indigenous Peoples; the doctrine of judicial notice, estoppel, and the limits of justiciability.
